Our Warranty
Dear Customer,
We have had several inquiries from prospective customers regarding the microGreen Extended Performance Oil filter and if its use might affect the warranty from the vehicle manufacturer. We would like to assure you that using the microGreen filter does not void your existing vehicle warranty. We would like to assure you that using the microGreen filter does not void your existing vehicle warranty.
Firstly, your vehicle warranty only covers the workmanship and parts that came with your vehicle as "original equipment". However, parts that were installed subsequent to the purchase of your vehicle, known as "aftermarket" parts, such as motor oil, spark plugs, radiator fluid, and oil filters, including those with extended or advanced performance claims, do not void the vehicle warranty. In fact, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 prohibits vehicle manufacturers from requiring you to use a specific brand or type of oil filter unless the manufacturer provides that filter to you free of charge.
By-pass oil filters are auxiliary oil filtration units installed in addition to the spin-on oil filter canister and offer extended oil drain intervals. Although not as easy to use or install as the microGreen filter, by-pass filters do not invalidate the vehicle manufacturer's warranty. There are also other name-brand products, including some motor oils, that enable vehicles to advance their performance or extend the oil drain interval that absolutely do not invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.
The vehicle manufacturer's warranty does not have to cover damage caused by the use of an aftermarket part. However, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act does require the vehicle manufacturer to demonstrate that the damage to your vehicle was caused by your use of an aftermarket part before denying a warranty claim because of that part. Such a demonstration must be based on a credible and substantiated analysis specific to the claim in question. Therefore, if a vehicle manufacturer claims that use of the microGreen filter would void its warranty, or that it will not provide warranty coverage because of the use of the microGreen filter, we believe that the vehicle manufacturer would have committed a violation of federal law.

If your vehicle manufacturer or dealership is telling you that use of the microGreen filter would void the vehicle warranty, please let us know. We would be glad to speak with your manufacturer or dealership to assist you in resolving the situation. Furthermore, if your dealership or vehicle manufacturer has denied a warranty claim based on use of the microGreen filter, please request from them, in writing, the denial of the warranty claim and to set out the specific reasons for that denial. Please provide us a copy of the statement. We will work with you to clarify the situation and assist you to further your proper warranty claim. All of this does not mean that you have no protection in the unlikely event that your vehicle is damaged as a result of using the microGreen filter. We offer our own warranty that covers you for any resulting damage, up to the cost of replacing the engine. We stand behind our product and our warranty covers the use of the microGreen filter throughout the extended service life that we have recommended. Our formal warranty is set out below.

SOMS technologies LLC - limited warranty What is covered: SOMS Technologies LLC (SOMS) warrants each microGreen® engine oil filter to be free from defects in material and workmanship during the period of service life recommended by SOMS. If your microGreen® filter is found to be defective in material or workmanship during the period of service life recommended by SOMS or by the engine or equipment manufacturer, SOMS will replace the defective filter with another microGreen® filter or provide a refund to the customer. In addition, SOMS will reimburse you for the reasonable costs of the parts and labor required to repair your engine or equipment to the extent the damage was solely attributable to a defect in your microGreen® filter. How to claim: In order to obtain engine or equipment repairs under this warranty, the customer must, within 30 days after discovery of damage, submit a claim to directly to the address below. The damaged filter must be returned to SOMS for examination along with a sample of the engine oil in a clean, sealed container. The customer must also allow SOMS to examine the engine or equipment, if required, to determine the extent of claimed damage and whether it was caused by a defective microGreen® filter. This warranty only applies if the filter was properly installed. This warranty does not apply if the microGreen® filter is used in competitive racing or on modified high performance engines or if used in any aircraft or aviation application. This warranty is exclusive of any other warranty, express or implied. SOMS TECHNOLOGIES LLC EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBLITY AND OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. To the extent permitted by law, the foregoing warranty represents SOMS's entire and exclusive liability and the buyer's exclusive and sole remedy for any damages or claim made in connection with the sale of a microGreen® filter. SOMS shall in no event be liable for any special, incidental, or consequential damages whatsoever, except those specifically provided for in this warranty. Application of State Law: Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusion may not apply to you.
