The summer heat is upon us and it becomes the second time of year when Oklahomans feel the pinch of high energy bills. Dustin Young, President/CEO of GOES Energy Inc., believes the line of products he offers to home owners and to businesses can reverse, and over time eliminate, this annual trend.

GOES stands for Green Oil and Energy Solutions, and is headquartered in south Oklahoma City, with locations throughout the state. The three-year old company offers two product lines that can save consumers money and make a positive impact on the environment at the same time.
Engine Oil Refining Systems
GOES Energy has two lines of oil refining systems that can be easily installed on any vehicle make or model, with the remarkable aspect of these systems being that they allow regular oil changes to become something of the past. GOES Energy offers the microGreen and the Green Oil Industrial Series, the latter of which is often used on larger vehicles. These systems filter engine, hydraulic and gear oil, along with transmission fluid.
Young owned a transportation company prior to this venture and has first-hand knowledge of the expenses of oil changes and engine wear on a fleet of vehicles. He said, “The bypass oil filtration system allows a vehicle that normally takes oil changes every 5,000 miles, to require a change now every 30,000 miles. The larger oil filter systems allow for oil changes every 100,000 miles, or 6,000 engine hours.”
Young said this type of technology can mean a significant savings for larger fleets of vehicles, and in fact, the State Fleet Services group, which supplies many of Oklahoma’s State vehicles, has recently contracted with GOES Energy for the microGreen systems.

The microGreen can start at a cost of $19 and may be used on any vehicle, regardless of whether they require synthetic or regular oil. The microGreen filter is to be changed every 10,000 miles, keeping the same oil in the car until 30,000 miles.
The microGreen offers a double-filtration system that catches particles in oil down to two microns, where most regular filters on the market today stop catching particles at 25-40 microns. The high number of oil particles left behind are what cause engine wear, which is the reason for frequent oil changes.
“There can be almost an 80 percent savings on oil changes, which is why so many groups with large fleets of vehicles are interested in purchasing these systems,” said Young.
Today, GOES Energy has large groups such as the Oklahoma City Fire Department, OPUBCO, and Tuttle Public Schools as clients. Young believes the impact on the environment is minimal when using a GOES Energy filter, as there are fewer gallons of waste oil produced.
Energy Management Systems
GOES Energy is also a leader in energy efficiency for Oklahoma. They offer energy recycling units that allow consumers to re-use wasted energy and increase efficiency of equipment, while at the same time producing lower energy bills for consumers and corporate clients.
The wall-mounted units are installed directly opposite the side of a breaker box. The system captures the reactive power, or waste energy, produced by small motors that are found in appliances. It recycles that wasted power back into its own system for use, but with no additional cost. Simply put, this system allows consumers, or corporate clients, to finally use all the energy that they pay for.
Reactive power has always existed from homes and businesses, but has traditionally been transferred back to the energy companies, and redistributed into grids for new consumption, and payment, from other consumers. Through use of GOES Energy’s energy management system, consumers keep and use the energy they pay for, and will use less energy through a new-found efficiency in their energy-consuming appliances. These systems also help cool motors and increase a motor’s life by 85 percent.

“This system can guarantee a savings of 10 percent or higher on electric bills. With the [service] changes happening in June, commercial buildings should consider these systems now,” said Young.
The changes Young speaks of begin this month, and affect businesses through financial penalties by energy companies if businesses cannot show a power factor of 90 percent efficiency, or higher. Many companies currently operate at 85 percent efficiency.
Young said, “My systems can increase these numbers to between 95 and 100 percent - easily.”
Young suggests the best thing to do is have GOES Energy perform an energy audit, show where their product is needed, and demonstrate overall savings. His group guarantees a 10 percent savings, or a 24-month return on investment.
Companies that have already made the move to GOES Energy systems are Kickapoo Casino, Elite Trailer Manufacturing and Chesapeake Energy, with many more now lined up with interest in the systems.
“This is technology that any large or small business can benefit from, and homeowners who place these systems on their property feel the financial difference immediately,” Young said.
With Young’s company doing so much good for others, it’s hard to think that another group could impact them in the same positive way. However, this is GOES Energy’s third month as a client of Moore Norman Technology Center’s Business Development Center, located in south Oklahoma City. As a BDC client, GOES Energy can continue to grow their business while having office and lab space available, along with on-site business resources and experts to assist them.
“I had heard about the BDC and found that it was a perfect fit for where we were going. Now being a client, I couldn’t be happier. The business support I get is amazing,” said Young.
