Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What filter part number fits my vehicle?
a. Our application guide is available on the "Purchase & Install" button above.

2) I use a brand X filter, what is your part number to replace it?
a. Use our cross reference option on the "Purchase & Install" button above. You should use this as a reference point. Always use the application search to find the exact part number.

3) Can I buy from you directly and how much does a filter cost?
a. Only individual consumers can purchase directly from our website. Please go to the "Purchase & Install" button above. Prices will vary depending on the size of the filter. Business customers should go to the same button above to find your local distributor or contact our sales team.

4) Does using the microGreen filter invalidate my vehicle warranty or will my dealer service garage deny a warranty claim because I used your filter? What is your product warranty?
a. Using the microGreen filter does not in any way invalidate your vehicle warranty and a warranty claim cannot be denied simply because you use the filter. Please go to 'Our Warranty' for more information on vehicle warranties and the microGreen product warranty.

5) Do your filters meet or exceed original equipment specifications?
a. All of our filters are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed all of the performance requirements for the applications the manufacturer assigns to them. New car and truck warranties remain fully in effect. You may also review our Warranty Program found on the "Customer Service" button above.

6) How often should I change my oil and filter?
a. We suggest you review your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations found in your owner's manual. Please note that your vehicle manufacturerlss recommendations are based on standard full flow oil filters. The microGreenTM oil filter is a NEW /technology that allows you to extend oil and filter intervals providing superior cleaning of the oil and does NOT void your warranty. Please go the "Purchase & Install" button above to review how to use the microGreenTM oil filter.

7) How is this new filter different than the one I currently have on my vehicle?
a. The microGreenTM oil filter has 2 filters inside the standard canister. The second filter is a patented microfilter that captures particles down to 2 microns in size (standard filters only capture particles down to 25-40 microns in size). This allows for the oil to stay cleaner longer and therefore allows you to extend your service intervals (click on the "Purchase & Install" button above for exact details.)

8) Why should I buy this new filter when my current one appears to work OK?
a. There are 3 primary reasons you should buy the microGreenTM oil filter, a revolutionary patented new technology.

i. Performance: The microGreenTM oil filter has superior cleaning capabilities which keep your oil cleaner longer. This allows your engine to perform more efficiently and with less wear.

ii. Costs: The microGreenTM oil filter will save you roughly 65-70% on your oil maintenance costs.

iii. Our Environment: By using the microGreenTM oil filter, you will use 70% less oil and 50% less filters. This means less disposal of these products that could potentially harm our environment. It also means less dependence on carbon-based products.

9) Can you change the filter without changing the oil?
a. Yes. The oil filter is located above the oil reservoir for the engine. When you remove the filter there will be a little amount of oil in the old filter. Install the new microGreenTM oil filter and then add a small amount of oil to replace the amount that was in the old filter. Please go to the "Purchase & Install" button above to review how to use the New Technology microGreen!" oil filter.

10) How do I know your new oil filter works?
a. The new microGreenTM filter has undergone extensive laboratory and field testing to validate its superior performance. Please go to the "Our Technology" button above for more information.

11) My current filter has a anti-drainback valve. Does yours?
a. Yes. In addition to the patented microfilter system, the microGreenTM filter has all the same features as other premium filters, including an anti-drainback valve, pressure relief valve, high quality steel canister, high quality steel base plate, and superior conventional pleated filter media.

12) What is the by-pass valve in your filter set at?
a. This valve is set based on the individual filter. The valve is a differential pressure valve. It monitors the difference between the oil pressure coming into the filter and the oil pressure leaving the filter. If this pressure ever reaches the valve setting, the valve opens to allow unfiltered oil to circulate preventing oil starvation in the engine. For example, a valve that is set to open at 8-11 p.s.i.d. (pounds per square inch differential) will start to open at 8 pounds.

13) I used your filter on my car and someone told me that the use of your filter voids my new car warranty?
a. This type of statement is common and definitely in violation of Federal Law. The microGreenTM oil filter does not void any warranties and also has its own warranty. Please go to the "Customer Service" button above for more information on the microGreenTM warranty.

14) I had always been told that oil breaks down or loses viscosity when it is used. Is this true?
a. Lubricating oil is a highly engineered product that is developed to withstand use under the heat and friction in an engine. However, what forces you to have to change your oil, usually in as little as 3,000 miles, is the contamination of the oil by small particles. These particles are accelerants, initiating a cycle that causes changes in the viscosity and chemistry of the oil that leads the oil to break down. If lubricating oil is kept cleaner, the cycle can be broken down, significantly slowing down changes to the oil and allowing the oil to be used much longer.

15) Can the microGreenTM filter be used with conventional or synthetic oil?
a. Yes it can. In fact, using the microGreenTM filter will extend the life of both conventional and synthetic oils.

16) Will extending the drain intervals and using the oil up to 30,000 miles have a negative effect on the additive package in the oil?
a.
The additive package in engine oil is intended primarily to suspend particles in the oil. Additives are also present to reduce oxidation and changes to viscosity. The microGreen filter is unique in that it captures the small particles down to 2 microns in size. These small particles are not removed by a conventional filter and, therefore, deplete the additive package. By keeping the oil clean the microGreen filter ensures that the additive package is not consumed in as little as 3,000 miles but remains active in the oil up to 30,000 miles. The following are a few key points based on extensive research:

  1. Extensive on-road testing and oil analysis clearly indicate that using the microGreen oil filter, even after 30,000 miles does not adversely effect the viscosity, wear metals, and oxidation (TAN/TBN) levels in the oil. All of these measures remain within normal operating conditions throughout the extended oil life. Clearly, these levels cannot be maintained if the additives can been depleted.

  2. Research has shown that heavy-duty trucks, using By-Pass filters, allow these vehicles to extend their drains intervals without affecting the additive packages. The microGreen filter works in a similar manner to by-pass filters by utilizing a secondary high efficiency filter to remove small particles from the oil.

  3. Up until the introduction of the microGreen filter, research was not possible on extended drain intervals for light-duty vehicles based on improvement in filtration efficiency down to 2 microns. That is because a filter did not exist for these vehicles that could significantly filter out these small particles from the oil.

  4. Additionally, the chemical analyses of the oil using the microGreen filter also indicates that the microGreen filter ONLY captures the small contaminant particles - it DOES NOT filter any of the additive package.
